CapitOx Consulting Group (CCG) works with Fortune 500/FTSE 100 companies, start-ups, and leading non-profit organisations to solve real-world business challenges. As Oxford’s most selective consulting group, we take pride in our ability to offer fresh perspectives and generate tangible value for our clients. In line with our exciting results-oriented culture, we accelerate the growth of our student consultants through extensive training and numerous professional development opportunities in partnership with industry-shaping consulting firms.
Our projects span from Week 2 to Week 8 of term, following a CCG-wide project kick-off event in Week 1. A typical project team will consist of an Associate Director, a project leader, and 5-7 consultants. Student consultants are expected to devote 10-12 hours weekly, though this can vary depending on client expectations and the scope of work. This time will include client meetings, team meetings, co-working sessions, and individual work time. Past projects have included operational benchmarking, market entry, supply chain strategy, pricing, and much more. Regardless of what project you’re staffed on, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside ambitious, intelligent people from a diversity of backgrounds, honing your analytical mindset and refining your communication skills in the process. As a token of appreciation for the great work our consultants deliver, teams are typically given a substantial budget for meals and are invited to various CCG-funded socials throughout the term.
Recruitment for projects is highly competitive with a 15% acceptance rate. Our consultant backgrounds are highly diverse, ranging from undergraduates to graduates and MBAs, and spanning numerous fields in the humanities and STEM. Though past experience in consulting can help your application, this is not a requirement and the lack thereof is most certainly not a problem. We’re looking for bright students who are passionate about solving real-world business problems and are committed to delivering consistent, high-quality work throughout the project cycle.
Applications have already opened and there will be two deadlines: an early deadline for October 5 (23:59 BST) and a final deadline for October 12 (at 23:59 BST). Interviews and offers are given on a rolling basis, and those who apply to the early deadline will be prioritised in selection.
Through our bootcamp, we look to equip students with the necessary skills and expertise to hopefully join one of our project teams in the future. The bootcamp is a great introduction to consulting and encompasses world-class training in aspects like problem-solving, communication techniques, and slide-writing. The program is hosted by members who are experienced in the field and passionate about developing the next generation of consultants.
The bootcamp will take place in HT25. We will be hosting biweekly sessions which span 2 hours each, with a combination of lecture-style teaching and group work. Being part of our bootcamp, you will also be invited to join the various workshops and networking events we host in collaboration with industry-shaping firms.
We welcome students of all experience levels and degrees - as long as you have a keen interest in consulting and have a strong desire to broaden your skill set, this program is suitable for you. Note that if you are unsuccessful in applying to one of our project teams, you will be considered for the bootcamp as well.
Application details to be confirmed. They will likely open during the winter vacation, a few weeks before 0th Week HT25.
