Finance
Co-President
Claire Wai
Claire is a second-year Philosophy, Politics & Economics student student at St Catherine’s College. Claire joined CapitOx in her first term at Oxford, starting off as a Finance Academy participant. She has been a 3 time Project Lead in the M&A and PE Groups, winning the CapitOx M&A Competition twice, and has held positions as Director of Academy and Managing Director.
Now as Co-President she oversees the Finance arm’s growth across divisions including teaching, sponsorship, and new initiatives. Outside of CapitOx, she enjoys writing, sings soprano, and is learning to golf.
CIO
Matthew Schafer
Matthew is a second year Economics & Management student at Merton College. He joined CapitOx in his first term at Oxford, starting off in the Finance Academy. During his time he has been a Director of Academy, a Project Lead in the M&A Group, and a Portfolio Manager for the Fund, medalling or winning many of the competitions he participated in.
This term, as CIO, Matthew’s focus is on leading the CapitOx Finance Arm and overseeing the CapitOx live fund. Outside of Capitox, Matthew is a dedicated rower, being one of the Mens Captains for Merton College Boat Club, and enjoys Mountaineering, having summited Kilimanjaro in 2022.
Managing Director
Atrijo Bhattacharyya
Atrijo is a second year Economics & Management student at Merton College. He started in the Macro Fund in CapitOx before moving over to the equities side as both a Fund Director and Portfolio Manager, leading his team to a finalist spot at the 2026 Inter-University Stock Pitch Competition.
Atrijo is now the Managing Director for Fund and will be supporting fund operations including Academy Plus, termly pitch competitions and more. In his free time, he enjoys doing photography, reading, running and the occasional stand-up comedy.
Managing Director
Paolo Mazza Martin
Paolo is a second-year Philosophy, Politics & Economics student at St Anne’s College. Paolo joined CapitOx through the Finance Academy in MT24 and has been in CapitOx since, most recently holding Project Leader positions across PE, M&A, and Restructuring.
As Managing Director, Paolo focuses on relationships with sell-side firms and internally oversees CapitOx’s M&A and Private Equity divisions. Paolo also heads the Credit & Restructuring Group within CapitOx. Outside of CapitOx, Paolo enjoys football and running, reads and writes fiction, and likes learning about history and philosophy.

Ryan Teo
Ryan is a second-year Philosophy, Politics & Economics student at St John’s College. He joined CapitOx in Michaelmas of first year, starting in the Academy before joining the Macro and Equities Fund. He also founded the first Macro bootcamp in Oxford, rigorously preparing Macro analysts for a career in Global Macro or Sales & Trading.
Now, as Managing Director, he is in charge of expanding discretionary macro recruitment and developing the quant team. Outside of CapitOx, Ryan is passionate about coffee, literature and travel.
COO
Fredrick Barker
Fredrick is a second-year Economics & Management student at Trinity College. He joined CapitOx in his second term at Oxford through the academy and has since had the opportunity to lead teams in both the Fund and M&A Groups, winning Competitions across both throughout his time at CapitOx.
This term, as COO, Fredrick is focusing on organising events and assisting all teams with logistical problems they face. Outside of CapitOx, he is a dedicated member of the Oxford Uni Karate Club, enjoys playing Volleyball with friends, and is an avid Star Wars fan.
Consulting
Co-President
Elias Ahmadi
Elias is a second year Chemistry student at Oriel College and has been working in CapitOx for over a year now. In his time with CapitOx, he has undertaken projects with a leading national airline and a global hospitality franchise.
Now, as the incoming consulting President he takes on a more administrative role where he oversee projects end-to-end, ensuring final deliverables are up to scratch and liaising with potential clients to scope new projects for the future. Outside of CapitOx, he loves to cook, eat good food and stay active.

Sofya Donets
Sofya is a second year Experimental Psychology student at St. John’s College. Sofya has been with CapitOx since Hilary Term of her first year. As a Consultant, she has undertaken projects with a leading pharmaceutical company and a Premier League football club, as well as overseeing a project with a global food chain in her role as Director last term.
As Managing Director of Consulting, Sofya is responsible for the continued operations of CapitOx’s consulting arm, including client engagement, recruitment, and outreach initiatives such as Breaking into Consulting. Outside of CapitOx, she enjoys graphic design, dancing, and classical singing.
